Last night I made a guest appearance on the College Football UK podcast to help preview the 2026 ACC football season.

I joined Fletch, Gary, Nick and Sam for almost two hours of discussion covering the major teams, talking points and storylines across the conference. The team even introduced me as “UK College Football Royalty”, which is their description, definitely not mine.

Is This Finally Miami’s Year?

Naturally, plenty of the conversation focused on the Miami Hurricanes and whether Mario Cristobal’s team can build on last season’s run to the National Championship Game.

Miami enters the new season as the preseason favourite to win the ACC, bringing much greater expectations than in previous years. We discussed the strength of the Canes roster and whether this could finally be the year Miami wins its first ACC Championship.

The talent is there, but after several years of learning painful lessons, nobody around The U will be taking anything for granted.

Looking Across the ACC

The conversation went far beyond Miami as we worked through the wider ACC picture.

Among the subjects discussed were whether Clemson can return to winning ways, if Louisville can finally turn promise into a conference championship appearance and which coaches could find themselves on the hot seat.

We also looked at the teams capable of upsetting the expected order. The ACC or ACH (Anything Can Happen) has regularly produced unpredictable results, and the introduction of a new conference tiebreaker system adds another interesting wrinkle to the race for the championship game.

With Miami, Clemson, Louisville and several potential challengers all entering the season with genuine ambition, the conference should once again provide plenty of drama.
