Image shows wembley stadium and match details

College football is finally coming to London. On Saturday 19 September 2026, Wembley Stadium will host it’s first ever FBS game, the Union Jack Classic. With the Kansas Jayhawks taking on the Arizona State Sun Devils.

A Historic First for Wembley

Wembley has seen the NFL many times, but this will be the first time American college football is played at the national stadium. It will be a Big 12 Conference clash, and the scale of the event is set to rival any international game that has come before.

Fans can expect the full American game day experience. Marching bands, cheerleaders, pre-game tailgates and a true NCAA atmosphere will all be part of the spectacle. Thousands of supporters are also expected to fly in from the United States to join UK fans in making history.

The Matchup

Date: Saturday 19 September 2026

Location: Wembley Stadium, London

Teams: Kansas Jayhawks (designated home team) vs Arizona State Sun Devils

Conference: Big 12

Week: Scheduled for Week 3 of the 2026 season

Kansas will be the home side for the occasion. Both programmes bring loyal fanbases and competitive records, and the game should provide plenty of fireworks to mark the first chapter of the Union Jack Classic.

Why It Matters for UK Fans

For Hurricanes supporters like me, the Union Jack Classic might not involve The U, but it is a huge step forward. Until now, following college football from Britain has meant staying up late, watching through patchy streams, or catching highlights the next day. This game changes that.

The fact that two major programmes are crossing the Atlantic shows how much the sport is growing internationally. If this first event is a success, it could open the door to more college football games being played in England and who knows, maybe even Miami one day.

The Union Jack Classic is more than just a one off game. It is the start of a tradition that could bring college football closer to fans across Britain. Seeing Kansas and Arizona State line up at Wembley will be a moment to remember.

Whether you are already a dedicated follower of NCAA football or simply curious to experience the atmosphere, this is an event not to be missed.

Because whether it is in London, Miami or Yorkshire…
It is all about The U.
